Scanner reports indicate the shooting took place around 12:15 at 20 Clara Street, with a male suspect shooting at another individual.

The incident started out as a home invasion, with a tall, light-skinned Hispanic male with a gun robbing the resident of cash.

Police are actively searching for the suspect.

It's unclear how many shots were fired. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

A spokesman for New Bedford Public Schools says they have been alerted to the situation, and the nearby Roosevelt Middle School and Taylor Elementary School are operating under heightened security at the time.
