NEW BEDFORD — New Bedford Police are searching for a suspect in an alleged armed robbery of a Far North End bank.

Police say that at about 5:52 p.m. on April 29, a report of an armed robbery came in from St. Anne’s Credit Union at 3092 Acushnet Avenue. According to police, it was reported that a man appeared at the counter and produced a note, claiming to carry a gun. He fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a white heavyset male, approximately 5-9, wearing a dark zip-up hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath, light gray sweatpants, a gray winter hat, and a black neck gaiter.
