New Bedford Native Anne Marie Bettencourt Named Mass. “Teacher Of The Year”

The Massachsuetts Teacher Of The Year works at Springfield Central High School, teaching ninth graders.  She's also a New Bedford native. Anne Marie Bettencourt says her jaw nearly hit the floor when she was informed about winning the award.

Bettencourt tells WBSM News,  she really enjoys working with kids, and bringing out their potential....

Bettencourt was a graduate of the class of 2000 at New Bedford High School.

She went on to attend Syracuse University.  Bettencourt was studying to become a screen writer but became bored and switched to education, a move she has never regretted.
