New Bedford Marks Memorial Day With Parade, Observances

The City of New Bedford saluted veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice during its Memorial Day observance at Clasky Park. 

A parade featuring many veterans organizations, public officials, and youth groups attracted hundreds of people along Parker Street.

Korean War veteran Joseph Barbero was on hand to applaud the marchers.

Barbero says  he loves to see the crowd, especially young people marching in the parade....

At a speaking program in the center of the park, Mayor Jon Mitchell says New Bedford should never forget the people who serve in defense of freedom.  ...

Mitchell and Don Canto of the New Bedford Veterans Council placed a wreath at the monument at Clasky Park, honoring the city's war dead.
