A Bristol County Superior Court jury finds a New Bedford man guilty of heroin trafficking.

The Fall River jury returned a guilty verdict Thursday against 46 year old Benvindo Rocha, following three hours of deliberation.

The District Attorney says Rocha was arrested in May of last year. Officers recovered 28 grams of heroin and smaller amounts of suboxone in a taxi he was riding in.

Judge E-Susan Garsh sentenced Rocha to five to six years in state prison.

District Attorney Thomas Quinn says the defendant has a long criminal record and his drug dealing has contributed to the ongoing heroin problem in the city.
