NEW BEDFORD — A New Bedford man is arrested after he gives police a fake name and is caught with heroin in his possession.

Monday morning at approximately 1:50 a.m., New Bedford Police encountered a man walking in the area of Acushnet Avenue and Beetle Street. During the course of the encounter, the man gave a false name to police, and was found to be in possession of a small amount of heroin.

Police arrested the man, 54-year-old Daniel Buelterman of Belleville Avenue, and charged him with possession of a Class A substance (heroin) and furnishing a false name.
