An investigation into three break-ins on three different days at Westport Gas led to the arrest of a New Bedford man.

According to South Coast Today, 39-year-old Daniel DaCruz Pedro, was arrested at his home on Friday.

"Westport Gas, at 634 American Legion Highway, was broken into three times over a four-day period last month. Police responded to alarms between 9:30 p.m. and midnight on March 23, 24 and 26, to find broken windows and lottery tickets stolen."

Detective Ryan Nickelson lead the investigation that obtained video surveillance and photos from Westport Gas and other locations. These and the stolen tickets that were cashed in helped police identify Pedro as the suspect. He is well-known to New Bedford Police and had an active arrest warrant for larceny of over $250.

Detectives investigating the case also learned that he was operating a stolen GMC pickup truck, which was later recovered in New Bedford.

Pedro was charged on three counts of destruction of property of over $250, larceny, breaking and entering at nighttime, and receiving stolen property.

He was taken to the Bristol County House of Corrections and will be arraigned on Monday at Fall River District Court.
