New Bedford Inaugural…

New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell begins his second term in office following inaugural ceremonies tonight at the Zeiterion Theatre. Mitchell will be sworn-in by retired U-S Justice and New Bedford native, 101-year old George Leighton. The ceremony begins at seven o'clock and will br broadcast on WBSM. The public is invited. Following the ceremonies, the City Council will convene at City Hall for a special session. Ward Six City Councilor Joseph Lopes is expected to be elected the new President of the City Council. The three term incumbent needs a simple majority of votes from the 11-member body to secure the position.
