Curtis Cruz, New Bedford Police[/caption]New Bedford police responding to a domestic violence incident Saturday night leads to the arrest of a suspect with a loaded gun. The domestic incident occurred at the Nashmount Housing Development where Police found the 24 year old female victim who had been assaulted by her boyfriend. She was treated and released from St. Luke's Hospital.

Police received information that the suspect was at the Presidential Housing development where they found him near his scooter. He fled on foot but was eventually taken into custody without incident after a short chase. Police found a 22 caliber loaded revolver with 6 rounds of ammunition on the handlebars of the scooter.

He was not licensed to carry firearms. 23 year old Curtis Cruz of Davis Street is facing and assault and firearms charges in district court. He also has an open case pending in Bristol County Superior court on firearms charges.
