New Bedford Fire Displaces Residents and Sends One to Hospital
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — A fire on New Bedford's Ashley Boulevard sent one person to the hospital on Wednesday.
Authorities say that the three-story building contained six occupied units.
Upon arrival at about 3 p.m. on December 20, firefighters extinguished a fire in the second-floor north apartment that extended into the third floor.
According to a statement on the New Bedford Fire Department Facebook page, an occupant of the second floor was transported to St. Luke's Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Six adults have also been displaced and assisted by the Red Cross.
New Bedford Police, New Bedford EMS, New Bedford Emergency Management and the Providence Canteen assisted. Acushnet Fire & EMS provided mutual aid EMS coverage at the fire scene.
The fire is under investigation.
