The New Bedford Festival Theatre has earned a coveted award for it's most recent production.

The New England Theatre Conference has rated Hairspray as one of the best performances in the Northeast this season, and is bestowing the Festival Theatre with the 50th Moss Hart Memorial Award Grand Trophy.

Festival Theatre Producer Armand Marchand says Hairspray was judged on numerous levels, including set design, lighting, choreography, and overall acting.

Marchand says the award is helping to boost Festival Theatre's recognition and reputation throughout New England.

The New Bedford Festival Theatre will be presented with the trophy on October 27th in Natick.
