NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — Authorities are investigating after a Fairhaven man was struck and killed by a vehicle in the parking lot of Knuckleheads Sports Bar and Grill in New Bedford last night.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, New Bedford Police responded to the MacArthur Drive establishment after several 911 calls reported a man struck by a vehicle in the parking lot.

The victim, later identified as John Blomgren, 36, of Fairhaven was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The D.A.’s Office identified the driver of the vehicle as a 56-year-old Dartmouth man, who they said remained on scene and rendered aid to the victim before paramedics arrived.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation remains ongoing.
