The New Bedford Elections Office at City Hall is prepping for the upcoming presidential election.

The Elections Office has already mailed and received hundreds of absentee ballots, and Election Commissioner Maria Tomasia tells WBSM News requests are still pouring in.

Tomasia says college students, senior citizens, and military personnel command the majority of requested absentee ballots.

The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is this Wednesday, with the Elections Office remaining open until 8pm that night.

Maria is predicting an over 40% voter turnout for the election. To request an absentee ballot, or for more information, call the Board of Election Commissioners at 508-979-1420.
