New Bedford Election Commissioner Maria Tomasia is predicting a large voter turnout in the city on Tuesday. Tomasia believes over 50% of registered voters in New Bedford will cast ballots on November 6th, more than the last presidential election.

Tomasia says she bases her prediction on the number of absentee ballots her office has received to date.

Aside from the presidential election, Tomasia points to the highly contested race for senate between incumbent Scott Brown and challenger Elizabeth Warren as a reason for voter interest.

Polling locations will be open Tuesday at 7am, and won't close until 8pm.
