New Bedford is again hosting its annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show on Saturday along the waterfront. The pyrotechnics will be fired from a barge in waters off the State Pier, starting at 9pm.

Mayor Jon Mitchell says Hawthorne Medical Associates is again sponsoring the fireworks display. "We really appreciate all that they do for the city," said Mitchell. "This is not the first time they've served as the lead sponsor, and they come through again and again."

The Mayor's Office says Tucker Roy Marine Towing and Salvage is supplying the barge.

The city is also hosting the New Bedford Folk Festival this weekend in the National Park. And on Sunday, the Cape Verdean parade steps off at 12 noon from Buttonwood Park.
