The New Bedford Health Department has announced that all of the city's beaches have reopened for swimming on Friday.

Sections of East Beach and O'Toole Beach located along East Rodney French Blvd and Squid Beach located along West Rodney French Blvd. were closed due to elevated bacteria levels caused by runoff from Wednesday's storm activity.

However, officials say testing was conducted on Thursday all municipal beaches and the results from the collected water samples revealed that water quality has returned to a safe level for swimming at all New Bedford beaches.

City health officials say they will continue to monitor water quality at all municipal beaches for any significant changes.
