New Bedford Airport To Lose Air Traffic Controllers On April 7
The City of New Bedford is working on "Plan B" to replace air traffic controllers who are losing their job on April 7.
The F-A-A says it's cutting off funding for air traffic controllers in New Bedford and four other Mass. airports, as part of a massive federal spending reduction, prompted by seqeustration.
Mayor Jon Mitchell tells WBSM News, he's not happy with the air traffic controllers losing their jobs, but the city is putting together a plan to bring in experienced personnel to coordinate take-offs and landings....
Mitchell says the plan is not an ideal situation, but the city will attempt to hire the best people possible and make do.
