Mosquito Spraying Early Thursday In New Bedford

Mosquito spraying in New Bedford resumes early Thursday. The New Bedford Board of Health says the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project will conduct spraying early Thursday from 2am to sunrise.

The areas targeted for spraying include Fort Tabor, Buttonwood Park, Hazelwood Park, Brooklawn Park, the Poor Farm area, Riverside Park, Clasky Park, Ashley Park and Ben Rose Field. Also being sprayed is the New Bedford Business Park.

Health officials say the spraying was prompted by the discovery of EEE in a primarily bird-biting mosquito sample obtained from East Freetown. Residents living near the targeted areas may wish to close their windows prior to turning in tonight.
