The operators of Connecticut's Mohegan Sun casino are set to announce details of a host community agreement reached with officials in the western Massachusetts town of Palmer.

Mohegan Sun has proposed a nearly $1 billion resort casino complex at a site off the Massachusetts Turnpike. The project would also include a hotel, retail complex and water park.

The agreement, which will go before Palmer voters later this year, will be unveiled Thursday at the town library.

The state's gambling law requires agreements that typically spell out how much revenue a developer will provide to a city or town hosting a casino, along with traffic improvements or other conditions.

Mohegan Sun is competing with proposals in Springfield and West Springfield for the sole resort casino license available in western Massachusetts.
