Mitchell Reacts To City Council

Many City Councils spoke against a proposed amended to an ordinance that would hold landlords accountable for their properties.

Mayor Mitchell appeared on his weekly radio program and said he is not trying to target the good landlords. He said the proposal isn't supposed to target the owner who lives in residence and rents the other two floors out.

The Mayor said he is trying to hold the landlords who do not take care of their property accountable.

The city council voted Tuesday to send the request to the ordinance committee. No date has been set for the meeting, but the landlords in attendance were asked to sign a paper so they could be invited to the meeting to put their input in on the ordinance.
