The Route 18 Improvement Project in New Bedford continues to hum along, and Public Infranstructure Commissioner Ron Labelle says the project remains about a year ahead of schedule. The latest "milestone" was the reopening of the Elm Street Intersection. Labelle says drivers will soon see all lanes on Route 18 opened to traffic, and the completion of the overpass from Route 18 north to Route Six and Fairhaven.

Labelle says some "punch-list" items may have to wait till spring, but he expects this current phase of the project to be completed by the end of the year.
