On Wednesday afternoon, Mayor Jon Mitchell held a press conference on Worcester Street in the north end to fill the city's 10,000th pothole.

After commending the Department of Public Works for their efforts, Mitchell helped fill the milestone pothole.

He said during the press conference that despite being three times smaller, New Bedford has filled more potholes than Boston.

"New bedford is about getting things done. My administration is about getting things done, and this is probably the most basic example of how we do this," he said.

Anyone wanting a pothole filled in their neighborhood can report it to the DPI at (508) 979-1550.
