Massachusetts voters who trekked to the ballot box in 2013 won't get much of a respite in 2014, with a slew of already contested races.

One of the most anticipated is the open contest for governor. Five Democrats, two Republicans and two independent candidates are vying so far for the seat held by Democrat Gov. Deval Patrick. He is not seeking -re-election.

Contestwd races also have shaped up for lieutenant governor, attorney general and state treasurer.

The state's U.S. House delegation is up for re-election this year as is every member of the Massachusetts House and Senate.

One of the biggest questions is whether U.S. Sen. Edward Markey will have a challenger when he faces an election for a full six-year term. The Democrat won a 2013 special election.
