As New England heads further into the cold winter months, winter storms will continue to be on the horizon, and Massachusetts is no stranger to the infamous snowy weather.

The 2023-2024 Farmers Almanac predicts that this year's winter forecast will expect lots of snow and colder weather throughout the northeast, with "normal to colder-than-normal temperatures."

Over the years, however, the state has been hit with some of the biggest snow storms.
The Great Blizzard of 1978 has been documented as one of the biggest snow storms that has hit New England and even covered Boston with a whopping 27 inches of snow in a span of 33 hours.

In 2015, Blizzard Juno earned Worcester County a new record after the town endured 31 inches of snow in just one day.

In honor of winter and future snow storms, here is a list from the National Centers for Environmental Information sharing the Top One-Day Snowfall Extremes in Massachusetts.

A Trip on Edaville's Double-Headed Steam Special

On December 31, 2023, Edaville Family Theme Park in Carver, Massachusetts celebrated an entire Christmas season running exclusively steam trains with a Double-Headed Steam Special, with Engine 3 and Engine 11 working in tandem to take a train out to parts of the park not usually seen.
