Mass. Fishing Industry To Receive $14.5 Million In Disaster Relief

NOAA is sending $14.5 million to Massachusetts to assist the Commonwealth’s struggling commercial fishermen.

Under a plan worked out between NOAA and the New England states, one-third of that money will be held back to help fund a vessel buy-back program.

A third of the $14 million will be used to address concerns in the groundfish industry, and another third will go directly to federal permit holders.
