Man Pleads Guilty In Hit-and-Run That Killed Town Official

An Attleboro man has pleaded guilty to charges in the hit-and-run death of a popular Seekonk town official last year.

Twenty-four-year-old Jacob LaCourse entered the plea Wednesday in Fall River to leaving the scene of an accident with death resulting and driving to endanger.

Authorities say LaCourse was leaving his job when he struck 51-year-old Karen McHugh, the assistant town clerk, on Jan. 30, 2015.

Prosecutors say authorities found LaCourse when his father told police he thought his son might be involved. Police also connected LaCourse to the scene of McHugh's death via a GPS device he was wearing as a condition of bail in a rape case.

LaCourse is scheduled to be sentenced on April 27. He's facing up to 10 years in prison.
