Man Claims He Was Shot In The North End

New Bedford Police responded to St. Luke's Hospital around 1:30 a.m. Sunday regarding a gunshot victim.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says a 23-year-old Wareham man claimed he was riding his bicycle in the North End when he stopped to text a friend.

The man claimed he heard a pop then felt a sharp pain in his right arm.

Vincente says the man was uncooperative and it's believed he was near his home in Wareham at least an hour before he was shot.

Police haven't determined exactly where the incident took place, according to Vicente.

The unidentified victim was treated at the hospital and then released.
