A judge is denying a request for a change in venue for the trial of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

The 24-year-old is facing murder charges in the 2013 shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee'.

Hernandez's lawyers wanted the trial moved from Bristol County, claiming sensational and inflammatory media coverage has poisoned the jury pool.

The judge rejected that notion. Hernandez's trial is set to begin January 9th. Hernandez is also accused in the 2012 fatal shootings of two other men. That trial is scheduled for May. (Metro Networks Inc.)
