Is it Time to Terminate the Death Penalty?
I've changed my thinking about supporting the death penalty. It's not because of the cost, although I'd rather see the victim's families receive the money instead of paying for electricity!
It's not that America ranks 5th in the world behind Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Communist China! What a stat! And I know that 130-140 people have been released from death row with evidence of their innocence, some just minutes away from execution. Years ago, I'd say on the radio, "I'd volunteer to pull the switch!"
But, what if the person being executed was Jesus? Would I still be as haughty? No. So, I join the company of the late Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun, a conservative, who changed his mind, too. In your opinion, is it time to terminate the death penalty?
