Hundreds of middle school students spent Martin Luther King Jr. Day attending a teach-in about the famed civil rights leader and other historical events, peacefully marching through the South End and volunteering at Gifts to Give on Cove St.

Gifts to Give founder Jim Stevens says it's important to get young people involved.....

One of those young people working Monday at Gifts to Give was Jeffrey Parker of the Middleboro Demolay group.

Gifts to Give collects gently used toys and clothing, makes repairs if needed, and donates those items to children and families in need.  The students spent their time collecting, and sorting those items for distribution.
