Authorities say the remains of two people have been found in a wooded area of Brockton, and at least one of the bodies was dismembered.

Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz says the first set of remains was discovered on Sunday and a police search of the area turned up a second body on Monday in close proximity to the first.

Cruz said one set of remains was believed to be that of a woman and the body appears to have been dismembered. He said the other set of remains, based on its condition, had been there for a significantly longer period than the first.

The district attorney said there was no immediate information on the identities of the bodies, which have been sent to the state's medical examiner's office.
