NEW BEDFORD - Three vehicles have sustained damage after gunfire was reported between New Bedford's west and south ends this morning.

Police say the shots were reported at 12:45 A.M. this morning in the area of Matthew and Stackhouse Streets, just south of Rural Cemetery.

Three vehicles were struck by gunfire. No injuries or further property damage have been reported.

Matthew Street was the scene of a shooting death in March that took the life of 20-year-old Joseph Trinidad, Jr., of New Bedford. David Lima, 16, of New Bedford, has been charged in Trinidad's murder.
