So far, the 2016 campaign is most likely one that New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski would like to put in the past, however the 11-year veteran did receive his second such AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honor, Wednesday.

While Gostkowski has struggled through the bulk of the season and has already tied his career high from his rookie season with seven missed kicks, he was named the AFC's Special Teams Player of the Week after his Week 1 performance.

In the road victory over the Arizona Cardinals, Gostkowski nailed all five of his point-scoring opportunities, including three field goals.

Since then, the usually reliable and close-to-perfect kicker has struggled to connect on both field goal and point after touchdown attempts.

The Memphis product appeared to snap out of his funk this past Sunday, however, as he drilled four field goals straight through the up rights and added to extra points for a total of 14 points scored in the home win over the LA Rams. The even more exciting aspect of his performance was that three of the field goals he made were from at least 45 yards out, including a long of 48 yards.

While he still has a ways to go to get back the trust in his right foot, more performances like he had on Sunday could help the New England  fan base and, more importantly, the coaching staff feel a bit more comfortable with him entering the game.
