Republican Gabriel Gomez will go up against Democrat Edward Markey to fill the Massachussets Senate seat vacated by John Kerry.

Gomez and Markey won their respective primary elections on Tuesday night.

Markey defeated fellow U.S. Congressman Stephen Lynch for the Democratic Party nomination, and wasn't bashful about stating his position on issues, like gun control.

Gomez, a former Navy Seal, defeated Michael Sullivan and Daniel Winslow for the Republican nomination.

Gomez told Bay State voters, if they want term limits for politicians, and someone who will put principals before politics, then he's their guy.
