A group of former NFL players is suing the league, claiming team doctors illegally drugged injured players with pain meds to keep them on the field.

The suit claims former Chicago Bears offensive tackle Keith Van Horne played a full season with a broken leg, but team doctors never told him it was broken. Van Horne was instead allegedly given a medical boot to wear and fed a "constant diet of pills to deal with the pain."

The suit lists eight former players as defendants along with more than 500 other "retained" plaintiffs who played in the NFL between 1969 and 2008.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
