One firefighter sustained minor injuries following a fire in Westport Wednesday night.

Capt. Michael Silvia says that around 9 p.m. fire crews were dispatched to 11 Emerson St.

Upon arrival crews reported a chimney fire with moderate smoke on the first floor, of the two story wood frame house.

Firefighters made sure all three occupants were out of the building then attacked the fire from both the roof and inside on the first floor, declaring it under control in roughly 30 minutes.

The injured firefighter tripped and fell on the fire scene, no other injuries were reported.

Damage to the home is estimated at approximately $100,000 and the Red Cross was on hand to assist the victims.
