Fall River Schools See Increased Police Presence Following Student’s Fatal Shooting

FALL RIVER (WBSM) — The fatal Fall River shooting on Thursday of 18-year-old Colus Jamal Mills-Good has led to an increased police presence at city schools.

Police found Mills-Good suffering from gunshot wounds on Rock Avenue in Fall River. Mills-Good was rushed to Saint Luke's Hospital in New Bedofrd, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Jamal-Mills was a student at the Resiliency Preparatory Academy. In a statement released by Fall River Public Schools, Superintendent Maria Pontes said the unexpected news of Mills-Good's death is a tragic loss within their community.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with our student's family, friends and loved ones. We ask that you respect their privacy during this very difficult time," Pontes said.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we will have an increased police presence in our schools. We will also have counselors available to support the RLM Resiliency Preparatory Academy community," she said.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced that Massachusetts State Police, Fall River Police, and Homicide Unit prosecutors are continuing their investigation into the homicide.

No arrests have been made as of this writing.
