FALL RIVER (WBSM) — Fall River Police seized four firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition while arresting a man earlier today.

According to police, members of the Vice, Gang and Intelligence Unit received information that Michael Shea, 61, was illegally in possession of firearms.

Police conducted surveillance and observed Shea enter his vehicle and travel north on East Main Street. The investigators then initiated a traffic stop, and police said Shea was cooperative.

Police said they recovered the following items as a result of the investigation: a Polymer AR15, two Polymer 80 9mm firearms, a Polymer 80 .40 caliber firearm, 261 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 100 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition.

They said Shea does not possess a license to carry firearms in Massachusetts.

He was arrested and charged with carrying a firearm without a license to carry, four counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a large capacity feeding device.
