Two young Fall River men face charges after police executed a search warrant at their 150 Purchase Street home and found firearms and ammunition.

Jordan Benevides, 19, and Noah Freitas, 20, were arrested Thursday by members of the Fall River Police Gang Task Force and the department's Vice Unit. A search of their home yielded a Ruger SR22P handgun, 14 rounds of .22 ammunition, a Harrington and Richardson 12-gauge shotgun, and a shotgun shell, the Fall River Police Department said in a media release.

Benevides and Freitas are each charged with possession of a shotgun without an FID card, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

"Gun violence is our top priority," said Police Chief Jeffrey Cardoza. "If you carry or possess an illegal firearm in Fall River, we will leave no stone unturned."

Cardoza thanked his vice unit and gang task force for removing illegally possessed guns from the community.
