A Fall River man has been convicted of killing one man and injuring another in an early morning shooting on the city streets nearly four years ago.

Juan Velazquez was convicted Monday of charges including second-degree murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for the October 2009 shooting that left Ervin Millsap dead and landed Alfred Coursey in the hospital with several gunshot wounds.

The 22-year-old Velazquez will be eligible for parole in 23 years.

Prosecution witnesses identified Velazquez as the shooter.

Velazquez's ex-girlfriend testified that he was in bed with her at the time of the shootings, while the defense lawyer said someone else was responsible for killing Millsap and injuring Coursey. (Associated Press)
