A Fall River man accused of selling heroin will spend more than three years in prison following his conviction on Wednesday.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says that 31-year-old Christopher Camara was convicted of Distributing a Class A Drug following a two-day jury trial in Fall River Superior Court.

Detectives from the Fall River Police Vice and Intelligence Unit obtained a search warrant on November 4, 2014 for the defendant’s apartment at 571 Slade Street, apt 3, and a Chevy Trailblazer that was registered to the defendant’s mother.

Officers saw Camara driving away from the home in the Trailblazer and stopped the vehicle.

During a search of the Trailblazer detectives found two hide cans in the map pocket of the passenger’s seat which contained 350 packages of heroin.

Camara will serve three-and-a-half to four-and-a-half years in state prison.

District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III welcomed the conviction calling Camara a habitual offender who repeatedly sold illegal narcotics.

”I am very happy with the conviction of this Defendant for dealing in heroin,” said District Attorney Quinn "the selling of heroin fuels the opiate crisis and effects the quality of life of the residents of Fall River.”
