Fairhaven Police Issue Traffic Plans for Rodriquez Funeral

TSM

The Fairhaven Police Department has announced street closings and parking restrictions for Monday’s funeral of Lance Corporal Matthew Rodriquez, the 19-year-old Marine from Fairhaven who was killed in combat operations in Afghanistan last week.

Sgt. Kevin Kobza said that beginning at 8:15 a.m., Center Street will be closed from Main Street to Green Street and will be designated for funeral parking only. William Street will be closed from Washington Street to Center, and also designated for funeral parking.

The funeral service begins at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, and residents are being asked not to park on Center Street until about 12 noon.

A wake is set for Sunday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Saunders-Dwyer Funeral Home in Mattapoisett.

Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne immediately following the funeral on Monday.
