A Fairhaven man is facing charges after allegedly waving a gun at another man.

Fairhaven Police say that shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday were monitoring crowd disbursement at the closing of Rasputin's Tavern, located at the intersection of Bridge St.and Main St., when a man informed an officer that a man in a grey pickup truck had just brandished a handgun at him moments before.

An officer saw the vehicle, a grey 2014 Chevy Silverado, traveling on Bridge St. towards Green St. and attempted to stop the vehicle with the use of the police cruiser's emergency lights and siren, but the motorist didn't comply.

The truck eventually stopped near Green St. and Spring St. and the driver, 22-year-old Brandyn Arruda and a 22-year-old male passenger were ordered out of the truck.

Although a search of the truck turned up no weapon, police say Arruda admitted that the gun, identified as a 9mm H&K P30SK, was thrown from the vehicle while passing Cushman Park, where it was later located by officers.

The gun was legally owned by Arruda.

Arruda was arraigned in Third District Court on Monday morning on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, interfering with police, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and failing to stop for police.

Arruda's gun license, which was issued four months prior, was also suspended.

Police say that at this time no charges have been filed against the passenger.
