Eversource is continuing to make improvements to the electric grid, increasing service reliability to its customers.

Spokesman Mike Durand tells WBSM News, Eversource is investing $800 million this year to upgrade substations and strengthen transmission lines, and customers are seeing the benefits.

"The frequency of power outages has decreased by 18%, and when the power does go out, the time it takes us to restore it has dropped by 26%. It's a direct result of the work we're doing every year on the system," said Durand.

Durand says Eversource has been spending hundreds of millions of dollars annually since the merger in 2012 to ensure safe and reliable electric service to its customers.
