Additional Information

The School Choice Fair gives families an opportunity to learn more about a number of schools in the area and assist them in deciding which school they would like their child to attend.

Organized by a number of area schools, this is the third year that a School Choice Fair will be held in New Bedford. It coincides with National School Choice Week. During National School Choice Week, schools and other organizations across the country hold events to raise awareness about the importance of greater opportunities for K-12 education.

The goal according to organizers of the national movement is to shine a positive spotlight on all types of effective education options for children, including traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, home-schooling, private schools and online academies.

Families will be able to obtain information about enrollment procedures, eligibility, class size and extracurricular activities, among other things. Each participating school will staff an information table so that families can speak with representatives from the various schools. A number of schools are participating in the School Choice Fair this year. They include:

City on a Hill Charter High School (New Bedford)
Bishop Stang High School (Dartmouth)
Friends Academy (Dartmouth)
Global Learning Charter Public School (New Bedford)
Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School
Nativity Preparatory School (New Bedford)
New Bedford Public Schools
Our Sisters School (New Bedford)
Renaissance Community School for Arts/NBPS
St. Francis Xavier (Acushnet)
