Several Southeastern New England watersheds stand to benefit from new federal grants totaling more than $4 million.

The money from the EPA will be used to monitor, maintain and improve watersheds in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Among the groups receiving the grants are the UMass School of Marine Science and Technology, the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment, the Association to Preserve Cape Cod and the Massachusetts Audubon Society.

Mass. Congressman Bill Keating says the projects are on the leading edge in researching, identifying and designing steps towards solving the water needs of Southeastern New England.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
