Superintendent Dr. Pia Durkin wants to set the record straight about the turnaround plan to be implemented at New Bedford High School.

Addressing the New Bedford School Committee Monday night, Durkin said while the turnaround model will require a 50% turnover of educators and staff at the High School, no decisions have been made as of yet...

Durkin says at some point, teachers will be asked to re-apply for positions at the High School.

High School teachers who are certified for subject areas in middle and elementary schools may be considered for positions at those levels, and will be offered professional development, to ensure an effective transitiion.

Durkin says negotiations between the School Dept. and teachers union are ongoing to determine how the replacement process will work. .
