The Drug Enforcement Administration's Prescription Drug Take Back Day was a big success in New Bedford.

Officers at the Rockdale Avenue station collected at least three large boxes of outdated or unwanted presciption drugs from local residents.  New Bedford Detective John Ribeiro is a member of the D-E-A Task Force.  He tells WBSM News, getting expired drugs out of medicine cabinets is a good way to protect kids.

New Bedford resident Sue Anderson showed up with several bottles of outdated presciption drugs, and was happy to find a place to dispose of them.

Police in Dartmouth, Mattapoisett and Wareham also staged Prescription Drug Take Back Days on Saturday.
