Taunton police say they are still unsure whether alcohol played a role in a violent crash on Bay Street early Sunday morning that left two dead and four others injured.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Eden Macedo and Jason Neto, died as a result of injuries received in the crash. Taunton Police Lt. Paul Roderick tells Channel 12 Eyewitness News what first responders found.

The driver, 24-year-old Nicholas Costa, and three other passengers were taken to the trauma unit at Rhode Island Hospital were they are recovering from their injuries.  Investigators say they found an open bottle of vodka in the car, but cannot say whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
