A Dartmouth man accused of making threats against his former law school, and then staging an eight hour standoff with police was back in New Bedford District court on Thursday.

Thirty-six year old Kevin Pacheco is charged with one count of extortion by threat of personal injury, and one count of threat causing evacuation of a school.  Polcie say Pacheco issued the threats in writing against Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island.

According to the District Attorney's office, Pacheco's attorney on Thursday asked Judge John Jullian to dismiss the extortion by threat charge.  The judge took the request under advisement.

Pacheco remains held without bail.  He returns to court on April 4th for a probable cause hearing.
